Bolsius House was constructed starting in the 1940s by the Dutch-born artist Charles Bolsius, using the mud adobe ruins of a 1870s Fort Lowell Quartermasters Commissary storage building. Between the 1940s and 1970s, the property served as the residence for Bolsius and his wife, Leora. Nestled on Tucson’s east side on a secluded half-acre country setting in the Old Fort Lowell Historic District, Bolsius House offers breathtaking views of the Santa Catalina Mountain range. The house features three bedrooms and three bathrooms, a salon-style living room, kitchen, TV/ sitting room, dining room, and patios.
The property is conveniently located near dining, shopping, wold-class hiking, and other outdoor activities. Just a fifteen-minute drive from Downtown Tucson and six miles northeast of the University of Arizona, Bolsius House provides an enchanting Tucson retreat that combines history, luxury, and privacy.

The Property.
Bolsius House is situated on a half-acre property in the heart of the Old Fort Lowell Historic District, along the edge of a mesquite bosque (forest) near the confluence of the Rillito River and Pantano Wash.
Scattered picturesque mud adobe ruins, mature mesquite trees, creosote bushes, and unobstructed views of the Santa Catalina Mountains combine to create a contemplative retreat. A microcosm of the southwest, the property was once the site of an early Hohokam village occupied from the Snaketown phase (C.E. 700-750) through the beginning of the Hohokam Classic period (C.E. 1150-1450). In the 1870s, it was part of the US Territorial Fort Lowell, built as a strategic outpost during the Apache Wars. During the 40s and 50s, the property was the locus of a southwestern artist colony.
Today, this architectural and historic treasure is available for adventurers seeking the true west.
